The loss of those communities left a lasting impact on Solano Canyon, whose residents mourned the displacement of their friends and the erasure of an entire way of life.

In the years since, the landscape has dramatically changed. The ridge that once formed a natural boundary was leveled to make way for the construction of a road leading to Dodger Stadium, forever altering the terrain. Yet, through these transformations, Solano Canyon has endured as a vibrant and resilient neighborhood, one of Los Angeles’ last hidden gems.

It features a highly regarded elementary school, a historic Mission-style church, and a flourishing community garden that serves as a gathering space for residents. The neighborhood is home to a diverse mix of longtime families and newer arrivals, including artists, city employees, musicians, teachers, filmmakers, professionals, and writers.

Bordered by some of Los Angeles’ most iconic landmarks, Solano Canyon shares its surroundings with the Los Angeles Dodgers at nearby Dodger Stadium, the Los Angeles Police Academy, historic Chinatown, and the vibrant Echo Park neighborhood.
